Author Voice Capture & Interview Mode
I would love to see an Author Voice Capture & Interview Mode built directly into Scribeist.
One of the biggest challenges with AI-assisted writing is preserving genuine human authorship. Instead of starting with “AI, write this chapter for me,” I would much rather start by speaking freely in my own words and then use AI to help me develop, question, organize, and refine those thoughts.
A possible workflow could be:
1. Record audio directly inside a workspace, or upload an existing voice recording.
2. Automatically transcribe it while preserving the original transcript as the author source.
3. Let the AI analyze the transcript and identify themes, ideas, stories, claims, questions, tensions, and possible chapter connections.
4. Optionally enter an Interview Mode where the AI asks thoughtful follow-up questions one at a time to deepen the author’s ideas.
5. Save the answers alongside the original material rather than immediately turning everything into polished AI prose.
6. Allow selected passages or insights to be sent to Planning, Research, Canvas, Chapter Notes, or the manuscript.
7. Only when the author chooses, use this material to help create an outline, chapter brief, or draft.
Ideally, the system would maintain a clear distinction between:
- original spoken author material;
- AI-generated questions;
- AI summaries or interpretations;
- edited manuscript text.
This would make Scribeist especially powerful for writers who think better by speaking, authors capturing ideas while walking or travelling, experts turning years of experience into a book, and anyone who wants AI to support their voice rather than replace it.
It could also work beautifully with Voice Match: first capture the author’s real thoughts and language, then let AI learn from that material and help preserve the author’s natural voice.
For me, this would be one of the most valuable possible additions to Scribeist.
